Did you know that when you practice being present it will grow your patience, fulfillment and your energy?
Today’s lifestyle feeds your hunger for instant gratification, it perpetuates rushing forward without pausing to enjoy the moment you are in. Unwittingly, you are being trained to be impatient, distracted and dissatisfied.
Yoga is the tool I use to help me be present, focused, patient, fulfilled and grow my energy. Yoga is much more than a physical practice, It is a tool for personal growth.
Learning to focus and be present
How often are you really present or focused in your life, your role, projects, decision making?
Learning to be present is the starting point for greater success in everything we do. Focus and presence is expected of all of us, but did anyone ever teach you how?
Yoga teaches you how because when you hold your body in different positions for extended periods of time focusing on the body sensations and the breath, it keeps you anchored to the present moment.
Meditation teaches you laser focus on a single point of concentration and how to disengage with distractions in the body, mind and the world around you.
Over a short time, with a regular yoga and meditation practice, you learn to find comfort in the discomfort. To breathe calmly and slowly. To accept the moment for what it is knowing it is not permanent, it will change and it is the only moment you can influence.
Being present leads to patience
When you master the skill of being focused and present in what you are doing. You start to grow your patience as you are all consumed with what is happening right now rather than jumping ahead into the future.
Life is always pressuring us to leap ahead onto the next best thing rather than enjoy and take in the moment we are actually in. This contributes to making us impatient, disengaged demanding and hungry for more.
When you practice patience you are able to take in what is going on around you more clearly rather than through a haze of emotions, enabling you to:
Think clearly and rationally
Make sound decisions
Cultivate good relationships
Act with kindness, empathy and understanding to self and others
Be more accepting
Operate from a place of calm rather than stress
Have a more positive outlook
Find more contentment
Be more grateful for what you have
Have more energy for the people, projects and growth that is important to you
Mastering patience grows your energy
When you use yoga and meditation, as tools to be more present and mindful in your life, over time, your body changes - it becomes healthier. stronger and more flexible. But more importantly, your skills of patience, focus, concentration, responding versus reacting, finding calm in the chaos and maintaining a positive mood grow too.
This all has a positive impact on your energy. Instead of using your energy on overthinking, feeding negative emotions and getting stressed, you can direct it into the areas of your life which are most important to you.
What you practice on the mat, you take out into the world with you.
